Parachute Failure:
Imagine that you just jumped off a plane. But guess what? YOUR PARACHUTE ISN'T WORKING! So, what do you do? Well, turns out that you are in the right place, because this article will show you what to do.
First: DON'T PANIC! This entire article is based on you not panicking. If you panic, well, I am sorry to say that you are dead. Here are some easy steps that will save your life . . . Even if they break a few bones.
- Spread your body wide. Try to keep your body in an x-formtion and stay as flat as you can. This will create lift and hopefully slow you down.
- Next, try your breakaway handle. (You should have one). It looks like a clock loop and is attached to your side. Make sure that you use both hands to pull it. Now, the only problem is that you are spinning uncontrollably. When this happens, you should go in the x-formation that we talked about.
- What you have to do now, is pull the handle opposite from the thing that you just pulled. This should activate the back-up chute. If this works correctly, then you should be gliding gracefully down to land. If it doesn't then go back to the x-formation.
- Now there is no choice but to find somewhere to land. There are some places that you should look for. One place is a tree. You can also look for a swamp and snow. These all work. The one place that you should not land is water.
- All you have to do now is land safely. Point your legs to the ground and hold your head. Remember, at all costs, protect your skull and neck. The impact will feel hard and you will probably break your legs, but the important thing is that you are alive.
